a birthday video
hello all :) okay, so i know not all of us can make it to sf for the show, so i have an idea.
let's make a birthday video for sara. i made one for my friend when i was in high school (back before my mac, so it will be 10x easier to do it now) and she absolutely loved it. here is the link to the unlisted video- please dont share it or anything- theres a lot of people i dont feel like asking if i can post it to youtube haha.
all i need from you is a quick little birthday message- 5-15 seconds long? it depends on how long we want the video to be, and how many of you will participate. i really want to put it together, but i would need your help. who's in? AND how long do you think it should be? i need specifics guys ;)

okay, i guess i will officially commit to organizing this project. i've written up some guidelines. let me know what you think guys. i really want your input. :)
-keep it short&sweet (5-15seconds)
- ie. "hey sara! i hope you have a wonderful birthday! thank you for being rad"
-try to make them fun! get a cool background. do it with some friends. dance around. make those 10 seconds worth it ;)
-if you dont have a webcam, don’t worry. just send a picture holding up a happy birthday sign
-email your video or picture to heyimlizzy@gmail.com by NOVEMBER 23rd
- that gives you 2 weeks. Please get them done ASAP. sending them early helps even more. It is going to take a while to edit them all together, and with classes/finals, I’m going to need a couple weekends to edit.
-include your name and where you're from in the email, so i can caption your video/picture. it would be cool to see where everyone is from

do take a look at the video i made for a friend. you can use it as an example. like i said, i made it way before i got a mac, so our video will look a little different- but take less time to edit :)

okay everyone! i am loving how you are all so willing to do this! i cant wait to get started. Jen had the idea of everyone interested in the project to post what they are planning on doing. whether is is a series of pictures, or a video. i may be able to give 30secs a video if there are not too many videos made. SO.... if you plan on participating....
email me ASAP with what you plan to do. a video? picture? (asap means... maybe thursday/friday the latest) seriously guys... i need to plan out how long the videos should be
also, i am going to try to limit the happy birthdays to 5 in each awesome language. so if you really want to sing, it's going to be first come, first serve(unless you can think of a better way). message me here, tweet mehttps://twitter.com/LizzyMacKenzie , or email me heyimlizzy@gmail.com ASAP if you want to sing.

deadline #1- Friday November 11th: let me know what you plan on doing. a video or a picture. this one is KIND OF (but not really) flexible. i need to know how long the video will be with everyone's videos... so PLEASE try to get you decisions in by then.
deadline #2- Wednesday November 23rd: i made it a little bit later, so it gives you the weekend to make the video... but PLEASE dont wait until the last minute. if you can send it in early, i would love you forever and ever and ever. i just dont know how long it will take to edit :)
and, a lot of you are saying you don't want to sing. TOTALLY understandable. you don't have to, it was just an idea :) just keep the videos 10-15 seconds long, and make them creative/funny/heartfelt/ etc. just not boring ;) but none of us are boring so its all fine and dandy.

also i don't suggest anyone say ANYTHING about the san fran plan because her bday is b4 the show! and she cant know about it =)

im watching the beginning... I think it would be awesome if we all sang happy birthday to her on the video and u edit it so that everyone says one of the words of the song that would be cool -just a suggestions =)

awesome! yeah if feel keeping it about the same length as the one i made amanda would be cool. i like the idea of that... but, i feel like it may be kind of hard to do without everyone in the same room. if we randomly sent videos, they would all be in different keys/tempos/ etc.
i don't think we should use sara's songs for the video though? i feel like if everyone suggested songs with good inspiring messages, that would be cool. we are going to do a medley of her songs anyway for video #3. maybe use songs that she like to cover?
i have work now, but i'll be back later tonight to discuss. i really hope this happens because i fell like it could be SUPER awesome :)

Yeah! and we don't want her to just take a look at it and be like "omg this is 25 minutes, i'm not watching it" or whatever haha. super excited about it though!

I love the idea...
I have a suggestion...there are some people (me included) from other countries on the site...so my idea is that we could sing "happy birthday" in our own languages...you know English, Spanish, French, ect. Crappy idea? I hope not.. haha ;)

i like it! that is a super great idea... i'm just worried that it may take too long? i'm trying to get 10-15seconds max, just because there are so many people on here. maybe a birthday greeting in your language then "happy birthday sara" in english? :) sound cool?
