The Sara Bareilles Fan Community
Hey Guys!!!
This is Elly from Taiwan, and it's the first time I post a discussion on SBF website, so to be honest, I'm a little bit nervous.
I'm a college student(just a freshman) now and planning to go studying English abroad during the summer vacation this year in the U.S. Actually, the reason I wanna go not only because I can know more about America and study English, but also I think I might have a chance to go to see Sara's live performance.
I prefer going to UCLA for I really wanna know what it would feel like to study there and be in the campus where Sara had been(I know the reason may sounds stupid though:P). But unfortunately, because of the date and the location, the only chance to see her is Sugarland's "The Incredible Machine" tour at UCSD, 2011/7/23(which will be supported by Sara). But if I choose to go to UCLA, I will lose the chance to go to the tour.
Until now, I've got the information that UCSD has the English Language Institute too, therefore, if I decide to go there, I can study English there and go to the concert which will be held in the campus as well! But both of the choices are really fascinating to me. I don't even know how to deal with it, and that's why I come here for some kind help.
So here is the question I hope you guys would give me some advice: "If you get into the situation like this, which one will you choose to go?"
I think we all love Sara as much as the same, and that I wanna go study abroad this time is mostly because of her, so I perceive you as the best people to give the rightest and most appropriate suggestions.
At last, I hope you understand my poor English and hear from you soon. I'll really appreciate that. Thank you very much:)
Cheers and best regards,
The fan love Sara as much as you do, Elly:)

Your future is more important than a concert. Don't compromise your education and possibly your future career just to see a concert. Choose the school which best supports your academic and career goals. Even if you choose UCLA, you can travel to concerts via bus or get a ride from a friend or something. I'm sure you'll have some spare time to do that.

Permalink Reply by Elly Kao on February 11, 2011 at 9:20am Hi! This is Elly again. Thank you soooo much Svizzara & Clement:) What you've said is absolutely right, my education and future career are much more important than a concert even though this time my goal only focuses on improving my English communication skills and learn how to live in a totally different place by myself. And of course, I can still spend some time figuring out the best way to get to the concert if I really desperately want to go. I think I would still choose UCLA, but this time the reason is because I think it's the best school for me. I really wanna study in there and stay in L.A(I know if I don't go this time, I will regret for the rest of my life). So at last, I wanna thank you again for your kind advice and support. Now I know the first right choice I made is come here for help:) And the new style and design of SBF website is awesome, by the way. I love it!!!
Hope you won't hate or feel annoyed by my long words:)
Sincerely,
Elly;)

You're welcome. I think you did the right choice :). You have to choose what's best for you.
I'm happy you like the new design, thank you ! And don't worry, you don't annoy us at all ;).

I know this is pretty late, but which ever option you chose:
just know that Sara will be going on tour more than once! you will have plenty of chances to go and see her, i promise! trust me, there were some shows of hers that I found out i couldn't go to and i was heartbroken. then i come to find out that i was able to go to the SF show last weekend with a bunch of other SaraBFans, and it made all the waiting totally worth it!
hope this helps :)
