Okay. So I'm pretty sure that all of you know about Sara's song with Seth MacFarlane called, "Love Won't Let You Get Away." What you might not know, however, is that the song he recorded with Norah Jones is another song he performed with Sara for the TV special. It's called "Two Sleepy People" and it sounds amazing! Here are links to both performances:

I converted Two Sleepy People to an mp3 because, you can't buy the version with Sara on iTunes. He recorded the studio version with Norah Jones and although I love Norah, I (being my biased self) think that Sara did it more justice. I also chopped it a bit after converting it so that I wouldn't have to listen to the banter over and over again when I put it on repeat so I'll give you the one with Seth's banter as well as the one without the banter.

And just to go the extra mile (and also because I wanted them. hahaha.) I decided to write out the lyrics to Two Sleepy People & Love Won't Let You Get Away:
TWO SLEEPY PEOPLE
Here we are out of cigarettes
Holding hands and yawning
Look how late it gets
Two sleepy people by dawn’s early light
And too much in love to say goodnight
Here we are in the cozy chair
Picking on a wishbone
From the frigid air
Two sleepy people
With nothing to say
And too much in love to break away
Do you remember
The nights we used to linger in the hall
Father didn’t like you at all
Remember the reason why we married in the fall
To rent this little nest and get a bit of rest
Well, here we are
Just about the same
Foggy little fella
Drowsy little dame
Two sleepy people by dawn’s early light
And too much in love to say goodnight
Well, here we are
Gee, don’t we look a mess
Lipstick on my collar
And wrinkles in my dress
Two sleepy people by dawn’s early light
And too much in love to say goodnight
Here we are
Crazy in the head
Gee your eyes are gorgeous
Even when they’re red
Two sleepy people who know very well
They’re too much in love to break the spell
Do you remember the nights
We used to cuddle in the car
Watching every last fading star
Remember the doctor said your health was under par
And you my little Snooks
Were ruining your looks
Well, here we are
Keeping up the pace
Let meets tomorrow
Slap us in the face
Two sleepy people by dawn’s early light
And too much in love to
Say goodnight
We quarreled and we spatted
From morning until night
We used to think it funny
But now it isn’t quite
The laughs it was before
So if you’ll open the door
I’ll bother you no more
My little chick-a-dee, you may say that you’re through with me
You’ll have no more to do with me
You’ll all through with me and good day
But you’ll find that love won’t let you get away
I’ll find an area
More remote than Bavaria
I’ll still get the hairier in Bavaria or Bombay
And you’ll find that love won’t let you get away
It’s finis and done with
Who will you have fun with
You’re no laughs to be with
Who’ll you watch TV with
You’re no one to pine for
Who’ll you chill the wine for
This is too-da-loo, we’re through
Just leave no trace at all
Hide your heart any place at all
I won’t miss your embrace at all
Or that face at all, come what may
Darling girl, I hope this won’t upset you
But I’d like to bet you
Love won’t let you get away
Darling, you astound me
Put your arms around me
But we’re through completely
But you kiss so sweetly
Must you always flatter
Must you always chatter at times like this
Let’s kiss
Well, here we go again
Caught in love undertow again
Latching onto that glow again
Here we go again
Hip hooray
Let the cynics laugh and try to bet you
Their doubts won’t upset us
Love won’t let us get away
Love won’t let us get away

Permalink Reply by William on December 21, 2011 at 11:43am Thanks so much for doing this! I bought Love Won't Let Us Get Away, but was frustrated about not having 2 Sleepy People. This is great!
I think that this is one of the best things Sara has ever done. For some reason, this kind of music fits her voice, the way she looks, etc.
She really needs to do something like this again. It may freak out some of her fans, but maybe there could be a Sara Bareilles version A and Sara Bareilles version B with Sara vers. B singing some of the old American songbook "standards" :)
Permalink Reply by Yaryn Choi on December 21, 2011 at 7:30pm Totally agreed. Sara could really do several things with her voice. It has this certain uniqueness to it that will allow her to do poppy, happy, I-can/could-dance-to-this tunes but it also lets her do deep songs that we can listen to and cry to. Then she has another side that can harmonize and add more depth to other's songs. I love it all.
Oh & then, her lyrics are a whole 'nother discussion. You have to dive in and analyze them. They have a meaning behind them and you really have to read and think about them. She's so awesome that way. So much better than all the mainstream BS these days. (:
Permalink Reply by William on December 21, 2011 at 11:48am Just for kicks, to see how versatile Sara is, I put Sara's "Gonna Get Over You" video on the left side of my monitor, and the "Love Won't Let Us Get Away" Seth McFarlane video on the right.
It's really amazing to see how well she did both styles of music and appearance. Frilly dress vs. Leather jacket. Just awesome.....

Yeah, that's incredible :).
Thank you Yaryn, I love these performances!
