So guess what I did? Sat with my guitar and this amazing song and figured out a super easy and cheap way to play it! It may be a little wrong but it works when I play along, so as an early Christmas gift..and I guess a Sara birthday gift too...I present to you, the chords to Love Is Christmas!

These are the real chords, but I just put my capo on the first fret and play everything a half step down. But I'll give you the real chords so you piano players have it easier :)

F  Bb C  F

I don’t care if the house is packed, or the strings of light are broken.
I don’t care if the gifts are wrapped, or there’s nothing here to open.

Bb F C F
Love is not a toy, and no paper will conceal it.

Bb F C
Love is simply joy, that I’m home.

F Bb C F

I don’t care if the carpet stained, we’ve got food upon our table.
I don’t care if it’s gonna rain, our little room is warm and stable.

Bb F C F
Love is who we are, and no season can contain it.

Bb F C
Love would never fall for that.
We sing …

Bb F C

Wooooo.

F C Bb
Wooooo.

Bb F C
Wooooo.

F C Bb C
Let love lead us, love is Christmas.

.....

F Bb C F

Why so scared that you’ll mess it up, when perfection keeps you haunted?
All we need is your best my love, that’s all anyone ever wanted.

Bb F C F

Love is how we do, let no judgment overrule it.

Bb F C
Love I look to you.
And sing …

Bb F C
Wooooo.

F C Bb
Wooooo.

Bb C F
Wooooo.

F C Bb
Loooove.

Bb C F
Wooooo.

F C Bb C
Let love lead us. Love is Christmas.
Let love lead us. Love is Christmas.

There y'all go!!

Hey all-

First of all, Chloe, thank you so much for these chords!  You are awesome, and it's so nice of you that you've figured out the chords for the piano so people can play the song on both piano and guitar.  I am generally uncomfortable offering advice in case I am wrong, but I think I have a  way to make this gorgeous song even easier to play without the hassle of re-tuning (which I personally hate to do because I'm lazy, but if it doesn't bother you, got for it -- Chloe is righ that is absolutely will work.).  However, there is another way besides re-tuning to make the song easier, especially if you're worried about the barre chords, which can be really hard if you're still learning them, especially the B flat. If you put a capo on the 3rd fret, you can get basically the same sound as if you start at the first fret. For full diclosure's sake, the sound isn't exactly the same as the if you play the original chords, but it's pretty darn close and provides a way to avoid barre chords if you're still learning them. It's important to strum all the strings from the bass note of the chord (i.e., B flat will become G, and you want to make sure you get the low E string).  To be clear, this is NOT how you would play the song on the piano, so this is a guitar-only suggestion.  But if you capo at the 3rd fret, F becomes D (I play if D/F# and play all strings to get that rich sound I was talking about), B flat becomes G (which I play with the C so that the C is in there), C becomes A, and then back to D.

Let me know if this is helpful or if you have any other suggestions.  But since the song is comprised mostly of those four chords except for the Dm, you will probably be able to figure it out.  Also, if you want to get the wonderful single-note sound (the arpeggiation) that Sara plays on the piano, you can finger-pick the chords.  I really, really hope this message is helpful and didn't come across as annoying to Chloe, who do all the work here.  Thank you, Chloe!!!!!

take care everyone,

The Last F Chord in the verse should be a Dm that is a D minor otherwise this whole thing looks pretty good.  Try out the Dm in the verses instead of going to F again.  That is all.  Hail Sara!

These are actually the piano chords that I figured out on the guitar so they should work for both!
