So I watched the Billboard video of Sara's cover of Single Ladies, which was posted on the front page. I thought it was great, and I was inspired to go browse YouTube for more performances of unofficial songs.

I found Anchors Away many months ago, but I think it's still worth mentioning here. Great slow song.

I first heard Free Ride on the Christmas EP that was released for members of her mailing list. Absolutely terrific! It's catchy and moves along nicely because of the quick, flowing rhythm.

And then I found Goodbye Song. Wooooooow. Shockingly good, it really doesn't get better than this. Far better than Gravity, in my opinion! It has a jazzy, R&B sort of style that I really love. Did Sara write this, or is it just a cover?

There's plenty more from The Summer Sessions and The First One too.

Oh, and I heard Gonna Get Over You in full for the first time. It's not unofficial but I still wanna mention it. I think this song is gonna make it big. Happy, bouncy piano playing and one of the best choruses I've ever heard!

Sara has enough great unreleased songs to make a whole other album!

Oh, I'm not saying she wouldn't "acknowledge" an oldie...

Just saying she wouldn't invest time into the old stuff.

Case in point being your example (Inside Out)... she sang a bit of it after it was

requested.  It wasn't in the program, & wasn't done in it's entirety.  Something for

her to nicely, briefly think back to, but not really re-do.  Purely opinional though.

I don't think Sara's forgotten about her previous & early work. At some recent shows, she sang bits of early songs when fans yelled out the titles (as I heard from Carolyn...Vega...). When two girls, at one show, "yelled out Inside Out!" she sang a bit of the first verse for them. So, I don't think she's forgotten about it, she probably just has another reason for not releasing it through her larger projects.

Kinda Johnny come lately here but...

As a s/s, I think I have a possible answer.

You see, once you & your art get to a certain point, you seldom look back.

I mean, (as a s/s) you know your past; you see where you came from...

but you also know/feel; "that was me then & now I can do better".

All that said, we still love her old stuff but her as an artist would rather move forward

than look back.  - Just thinking as a s/s here; tryin' to shed some light.

I really think Goodbye Song has the potential to be in any of her records. It's surprising to me how she has never officialy recorded that song. It would be cool , if she decided to re-record some of the Careful Confessions songs and release them at least as B-sides of the singles.

Unfortunately, I think Sara's pretty much forgotten about her early work. It's not relavent anymore. None of those songs are radio friendly, even when some of them were redone and mastered in Little Voice.

If it doesn't have a catchy chorus, it's not gonna make it big.

Well, we're all hardcore fans here, so as Phathead said during the interview, we love everything that Sara does. But maybe we're biased :).

But, I think that if Sara did revisit some of the old songs, the results would be great.

It's true though that a lot of the earlier stuff is not as "radio friendly" as let's say KoA, GGOY, or Love Song.

Maybe Sony is thinking that some of the older stuff just won't work on the radio or something. But that doesn't stop her from doing the old stuff at concerts, etc.

Sometimes you gotta wonder what some of the songs on Careful Confessions would sound like today. It's been 6 years, and in that time, Sara's gotten a lot better!

Bittersweet, The Artist, Undertow, My Love, and Responsible are my favourites from her early work. Just imagine them redone and mastered!

No you're not William, I love "Responsible", especially the chorus. It's a great song.
I wish she could record all these songs in an EP or something like this, it would be so cool.

There are a lot of older Sara songs which are great. I hope that Sara does not let them disappear. For example, "Responsible" is an amazing song, at least to me. But as far as I know, Sara has never done anything with it since Careful Confessions. She may not like it anymore either.

I may be the only person on the planet that likes it :)

Anyway, your right. Good stuff out there. She needs to not let those songs go.

I couldn't agree more with you Svizzara. All the songs you mentionned are brilliant. And yes, she wrote Goodbye Song :). I also think that Gonna Get Over you is gonna make it big, and she said she wants it to be a single so.. ;) !! YEAH.
